About this site

Bab El Onsar is one of the historic gates punctuating the walls of Chefchaouen's medina, traditionally lending its name to the neighborhood and its inhabitants ("the Ansar", after the name given to the medina's first residents). Like the city's other gates, it marks a transition point between the blue alleyways and the outer districts, and remains a landmark for finding one's way through the urban fabric.
