About this site

Housed in the restored former Simon Attia synagogue, the House of Memory (Bayt Al Dakira) traces the history of Moroccan Judaism and the centuries-long coexistence between Jewish and Muslim communities in Essaouira. Photographs, ritual objects and archival documents tell an essential part of the city's multicultural identity, making it today one of the most visited cultural spaces in the Mellah.
