About this site
Built in 1687 by the Alaouite sultan Moulay Ismail on the right bank of the Oued Oum Errabia, then expanded by his son Moulay Ahmed Dahbi in 1700, the Kasbah of Tadla — also known as Kasbah Ismailia — served as the religious, administrative and military center responsible for guarding the Sultan's road (Tarik Assoultan) and collecting taxes across the Tadla region. Listed as national heritage since 1916, it gave its name to the town of Kasba Tadla that grew up around it. Its ramparts, gates and architectural remains today bear witness to its strategic role in the 17th-century Alaouite security network.
