Perched on a hill facing Chefchaouen, the Spanish Mosque (Jamaa Bouzafar) offers the most complete view over the city's blue-washed rooftops. Built in the 1920s during the Spanish protectorate, it in fact never served as a place of worship — local authorities never authorized its opening. Now deconsecrated but fully accessible, it remains above all a place for a stroll: about thirty minutes' walk from the medina leads to this viewpoint, especially sought after at sunrise and sunset.
