Housed in the former city hall dating from the French protectorate, this museum presents a collection dedicated to the history, crafts and musical traditions of Essaouira — Gnaoua and Sufi instruments, regional carpets, carved wood and old documents. It is named after the sultan who founded the city, whose 18th-century urban project gave Essaouira its present shape.
