About this site

Ras El Ma ("the source of the water") is the spring that historically justified Chefchaouen's location at this spot in the Rif. Even today, local women come here to wash laundry in the stone basins, in a scene of daily life that has changed little over generations. The walk along the stream, just outside the medina, is one of the few places in the city where nature takes over from architecture.
