About this site
Dating from the 19th century, the Haïm Pinto synagogue is dedicated to the rabbi of the same name, a venerated spiritual figure whose tomb draws Jewish pilgrims from Morocco and abroad every year. Still maintained and open to visitors (donation recommended), it remains one of the last active Jewish places of worship in Essaouira and a living testimony to the city's Judeo-Moroccan heritage.
