About this site

Opened in 1932 as the Rabat Archaeological Museum and renamed the Museum of History and Civilizations after its 2017 renovation, this institution holds some of Morocco's most important archaeological finds — including the celebrated ancient bronzes from the Volubilis site, such as the bust of King Juba II and the "Dog of Volubilis". It is a key reference for understanding the country's ancient history, from prehistory through Roman antiquity, complementing the archaeological sites themselves such as Chellah or Volubilis.
