Musée National de la Céramique de Safi

Safi's pottery, Morocco's ceramics capital

About this site

Created in 1990, the museum is known for its collection of Moroccan pottery and ceramics, mostly archaeological and ethnographic, in a city with a long pottery tradition tied to its clay deposits. A ceramics school founded in 1920 by master craftsman Boujemaa Lamali, the first in Morocco, made Safi a national centre of ceramics; many pieces come from other FNM museums.
