Designed in the 1930s under the French protectorate, the Habous district reinterprets the codes of traditional Moroccan architecture — arcades, lanes, patios — within a planned layout, unlike medinas that grew organically over centuries. Souks, bookshops and traditional pastry shops make it today as much a living neighborhood as an architectural curiosity.
