It does not detail a full-day itinerary, which has its own page: Casablanca in one day.

How to get from Mohammed V airport to the centre of Casablanca

There are four main options. Journey times are orders of magnitude: they depend on traffic, the time of day and your destination.

The train

Casa-Voyageurs, the city's main station.

A station is accessible from the arrivals hall. It serves notably Casa-Voyageurs and Casa-Port, with no change needed according to ONCF timetables. According to an ONCF timetable, the journey takes about 35 minutes to Casa-Voyageurs and a little under 50 minutes to Casa-Port.

Casa-Voyageurs is the city's main station, useful for continuing to Rabat or Marrakech. However, train frequency and times vary: several sources disagree, and published timetables are not always dated. Check ONCF on the day of your trip before counting on this option, especially at night or with a late flight.

The Aérobus

In December 2025 ONDA launched a shuttle called the Aérobus. According to ONDA's announcement, which we could not cross-check directly on its website, it links Casa-Port station to terminal 2, with a stop at terminal 1, at a fixed fare of 50 MAD, with an announced frequency of 30 minutes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The buses are air-conditioned and have luggage space. The announcement was relayed by the Moroccan government portal maroc.ma.

Casa-Port station, the Aérobus terminus.

It is the cheapest way to reach Casa-Port, close to the old medina and the Hassan II Mosque. Check the frequency, stops and payment methods on the ONDA website before you travel: they may change, especially at night.

The taxi

Official taxis are available at the arrivals exit. No official fare is clearly published online: the prices quoted in guides (around 250 to 350 MAD to the centre) are orders of magnitude. Agree the fare, or the use of the meter, before getting in, and keep some change.

The private transfer

A driver can wait for you on arrival. The advantage: the journey goes straight to your accommodation and the price is set in advance. It is handy for families, with lots of luggage or on a late arrival. MoroccoMuseum lists the private driver service, whose listing mentions flexible pick-up and drop-off points (airport, hotel or a custom location). Before booking, check with the provider the pick-up arrangements, waiting time in case of flight delays and cancellation conditions.

Which option should you choose?

  • Tight budget: Aérobus or train.
  • Late or very early arrival: Aérobus (service announced 24/7), taxi or private transfer. Check train availability.
  • Lots of luggage or family: taxi or private transfer.
  • Hotel near Casa-Port or the medina: Aérobus or train.
  • Hotel far from the stations: taxi or private transfer, or public transport then a taxi.

Layover in Casablanca: can you visit the city?

Yes, sometimes, but a layover isn't planned like a normal day.

First, the entry rules

Leaving the airport transit area means entering Morocco. Entry conditions depend on your nationality and situation (length of stay, purpose, type of ticket). Use only the official information from the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (consulat.ma) or from the Moroccan embassy or consulate in your country, and ask your airline about the connection. Don't rely on a list found on a blog: rules can change.

Also check:

  • whether your bags are checked through to your final destination or you have to collect them;
  • whether both flights are on the same ticket: if you are delayed on separate tickets, the connection is not guaranteed;
  • your airline's conditions in case of a long layover.

Calculating the time you really have

Your visiting time = layover length − leaving the airport − journey there − journey back − getting back into the airport − margin before check-in.

Leaving the airport (passport control, baggage) can take a while; the round trip may add up to several hours; and you need to be back well before your flight (depending on your airline, often 2 to 3 hours for an international flight). Getting back to the airport always comes before sightseeing.

What to do depending on the length of the layover

These are editorial guidelines, not a guarantee: adapt them to your situation.

LayoverAdvice
Short (a few hours)It is generally safer to stay at the airport.
MediumA single site, if the journeys allow: the Hassan II Mosque or the Corniche.
Long (half a day to a day)A short itinerary: mosque, medina, city centre.
Very long or overnightA night on the spot and the one-day itinerary.

Three layover formats

1. Hassan II Mosque + Corniche. If your arrival falls before a tour time, this is the simplest format. The interior visit is a guided tour at fixed times: check them for your date. See our guide to visiting the Hassan II Mosque and the Hassan II Mosque page.

2. Medina and city centre. The old medina, the Sqala (to see from outside) and Place Mohammed V make a logical set, easy to link on foot. For the detail, see our one-day itinerary.

3. An evening. If your flight leaves late, have dinner on the Corniche or in the centre, keeping a generous margin. For addresses and ideas, see our guide on what to eat in Casablanca.

If you have more time, other pages may interest you: the Art Deco route, the Habous quarter or our complete guide to Casablanca.

Luggage during the layover

Sightseeing with luggage is a pain: before you leave, check whether there is a left-luggage service at the airport or in town, its hours and prices, with ONDA or the provider.

An organised tour during the layover

A guided tour or a driver can save you time, because the programme is timed to get you back on schedule. If you arrive by cruise or are staying at a hotel, see the Casablanca tour from the cruise port or hotels. If you are leaving from the airport, check with the provider the meeting point, the policy in case of flight delays and the guaranteed return time. You can also compare the tours and experiences in Casablanca.

From the centre to the airport: departing

To get back to the airport, allow plenty of time: traffic, checks and check-in. You can take the Aérobus from Casa-Port, the train from Casa-Voyageurs or Casa-Port, a taxi or a private transfer booked in advance. Check your flight's terminal and the check-in closing time.

After the airport: continuing your trip

Casa-Voyageurs links Casablanca with Rabat, Tangier and Marrakech. For ideas for trips from Casablanca, see our guide to day trips from Casablanca. If you spend a night in Casablanca, see our guide on where to stay in Casablanca. For a two-day stay, see Casablanca in two days.

Practical tips

  1. Check the terminal of your flight and of the return.
  2. Keep some change for the taxi, bus or train.
  3. Allow a margin for traffic and for leaving the airport.
  4. Don't buy transport from touts: use official taxis or book in advance.
  5. Keep your documents and return ticket to hand.
