About this site
Housed in a restored riad in the medina, the Maison de la Photographie preserves and displays over eight thousand prints, negatives and postcards tracing Morocco from 1870 to 1960: portraits, street scenes, landscapes and ethnographic documents gathered by passionate collectors determined to save this visual heritage from disappearing. Its rooms, spread over several floors around a typical patio, tell the kingdom's story through the eyes of the first photographers to explore it. The visit ends on the café terrace, with a panoramic view over the medina's rooftops — one of Marrakech's finest vantage points.
