Musée archéologique de Tétouan

Lixus mosaics and archaeological treasures of northern Morocco

About this site

Opened on 19 July 1940, a few streets from the UNESCO-listed medina, this museum gathers pieces from excavations carried out in northern Morocco since the 1930s: prehistoric tools, ceramics, mosaics, coins and statuettes from Lixus, Tamuda, M'zora and Ksar Es Sghir. Its Andalusian-style garden holds Roman mosaics from the 2nd century, Islamic funerary stelae and amphorae.
