Marrakech offers two distinct nightlife scenes: the traditional medina (dinner shows, gnaoua concerts, Jemaa el-Fna) and modern Marrakech in Guéliz and Hivernage, with its clubs, bars and trendy rooftops.
Not-to-Miss Clubs and Bars
Jad Mahal
Extravagant Indo-Moroccan decor, international DJ on weekends. The evening starts like a gourmet restaurant and turns into a dance floor after 11:30pm. Reservation recommended.
Sky Bar (Hôtel Es Saadi)
The legendary rooftop in Hivernage, overlooking the gardens and pools. Electro/chill DJ sets on Friday and Saturday nights. Strict dress code.
Le Churchill (La Mamounia)
The bar of Africa's most famous palace hotel, open to non-residents for an evening cocktail. Hushed atmosphere, impeccable service — an experience in itself.
Barometre (Guéliz)
A cocktail bar popular with Guéliz's trendy youth. Creative cocktails made with arak and Moroccan ingredients, lively terrace. A local vibe far from mass tourism.
Nikki Beach Marrakech
The Marrakech extension of the international Nikki Beach club, in the Palmeraie: pool, international DJ, chic beach-club atmosphere in the middle of the desert.
Practical Tips
Dress code: clubs are strict. Avoid shorts, flip-flops and sportswear. Premium clubs expect smart attire.
Hours: clubs really only come alive after 11:30pm–midnight. If you arrive earlier, the room will often be empty.
Prices: cocktails between 80 and 150 MAD (€8–15). Minimum spend at entry: 300 to 500 MAD at some clubs.
Transport: get a taxi driver's number early in the evening — they become scarce after 2am.
