What to see on site

Housed in the former Mnebhi Palace, the museum displays collections of Islamic art — ceramics, Berber jewelry, ancient manuscripts — arranged around a huge hammered-copper basin that occupies the center of the patio.

Unlike the grand palaces of the medina, which lean more toward architecture and the history of power, the Marrakech Museum offers a more intimate connection to Moroccan craftsmanship: every piece on display reflects a know-how that is still alive today in the nearby souks. It's a place particularly well suited to anyone who wants to understand Morocco through its objects as much as its monuments.
