Coupole Almoravide

The Almoravid Qobba, built in 1117 in Marrakech under the reign of Ali ibn Yusuf, is one of the few monuments that survive from the Almoravid era: most monuments of that period were destroyed by the Almohads, the successors of the Almoravids. Located near the Ben Youssef Mosque, it served as a pavilion for the worshippers' ritual ablutions. The building is characterised by a dome decorated with floral and geometric motifs, with decorative muqarnas inside, typical of the Islamic architecture of the time.
