Fondation Montresso — Jardin Rouge

An artist residency amid the ochre desert — by appointment

About this site

On the outskirts of Marrakech, along the road to Fès, the Montresso Foundation created Jardin Rouge, an artist residency centre set in an ochre desert landscape at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. Moroccan and international artists stay here to produce works on site, often later exhibited in galleries and art fairs around the world. Visiting the site, which is by appointment only, allows visitors to explore the studios and sometimes see works in progress, in a spectacular natural setting quite different from the medina's classic museum spaces. A rare experience reserved for visitors who plan ahead.
