Best time to visit
Arrive right at 9am opening — organized groups usually arrive after 10:30am. The morning light in the inner courtyards is especially beautiful between 9:30 and 11am. In summer, the palace is cool inside: enjoy it before the midday heat.
To avoid: 11am–1pm (peak crowds) and Moroccan public holidays (Eid al-Adha, Eid al-Fitr).
What not to miss
- The Grand Riad (1,500 m²): look up for the painted cedar ceilings with natural pigments
- The main bedroom: gilded ceiling, 19th-century zellige, stucco carved on three levels

Route: entrance courtyard → vestibule → hammam → small courtyard → Grand Courtyard → Grand Riad → gilded rooms → orange tree garden.

No strict code, but appropriate attire is expected. Avoid very short shorts and bare shoulders — the heritage setting deserves it.

⚠️ Watch out for scams
Fake unofficial guides: Individuals position themselves at the entrance claiming to be licensed guides. Demand the official professional card issued by the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism.
Off-platform priority access: Never pay cash to someone offering a "skip-the-line ticket" or "special access" in front of the entrance. These are systematically scams.
Spontaneous guides to the souks: After the visit, strangers will offer to lead you to shops. They receive a commission without telling you.
