What the official ticket office says about the Kasbah
According to the Ministry of Culture, the Kasbah was built in 1471 under the reign of Emir Ali ben Rached, over an area of 3,477 m². This essentially military monument also served as the emir's seigneurial residence (Dar al-Imara). It is protected by a rammed-earth wall flanked by thirteen towers and comprises, in addition to the seigneurial residence, a small mosque, a large Andalusian garden of 2,300 m², a prison, a stable and an enclosure for animals.
