The Kasbah was built in 1471 under the reign of Emir Ali ben Rached, over an area of 3,477 m². This essentially military monument also served as the emir's seigneurial residence (Dar al-Imara). Protected by a rammed-earth wall flanked by thirteen towers, it comprises, in addition to the seigneurial residence, a small mosque, a large Andalusian garden of 2,300 m², a prison, a stable and an enclosure for animals.
Book your e-ticket (electronic ticket) online: you pay the Ministry of Culture's official price plus a €1.99 service fee, and you receive your ticket and your digital guide by email, usually within 3 hours. The digital guide, included with every ticket, offers an illustrated visit guide, a narrative account and an audio reading of 4 points of interest, in five languages. You explore the fortress and its garden at your own pace, on your phone, with no group and no set schedule.

Book in advance to secure your spot, especially in high season. Your entry pass will be emailed to you the day before your visit, from 6:00 PM.
