Address and access

Address: Center of the Medina, Marrakech

The square is the convergence point of all the medina's streets. It's impossible to get lost — just follow the crowds or the "Jemaa el-Fna" signs.

How to get there:

  • From Guéliz: red taxi (20–25 MAD, 10 min) or bus n°1
  • From the airport: bus n°19 (4 MAD, 40 min) or taxi (~80 MAD, 20 min)
  • On foot from the Koutoubia: 5 min (heading east)

Access and opening hours

Free access 24/7, every day. No ticket, no access restrictions.

Atmosphere by time of day:

7am–12pm Dried fruit market, orange juice stands, relatively calm 12pm–5pm Storytellers, snake charmers, itinerant "dentists" 5pm–7pm Gradual transformation, smell of grilling food 7pm–11pm Peak time: 100+ street food stalls, musicians, dense crowds 11pm–4am Late-night drink stalls, gradual clean-up of the square
