Two days in Casablanca is the right length: enough to see the big sights without rushing, short enough that every hour counts. This 2 days in Casablanca itinerary offers a logical 48-hour programme built around real distances and visiting times, with variations by traveller profile, an indicative budget and a list of what is worth booking in advance.

The first day covers the great classics, which we detail hour by hour in Casablanca in one day: here it is deliberately summarised. The second day is the one that makes the difference: Habous, culture, a possible day trip and the Corniche. To get your bearings before you go, see our complete guide to Casablanca.

Casablanca in 2 days: the plan at a glance

Day 1: the seafront and the centreDay 2: Habous, culture and the Corniche
MorningHassan II MosqueHabous quarter
MiddaySqala, old medina, lunch at the Central MarketLunch in Habous or in the centre
AfternoonPlace Mohammed V and Art DecoA cultural venue, or a day trip to Rabat
End of daySacré-Cœur or a break, dinnerCorniche and Ain Diab, dinner

Why this order? The Hassan II Mosque, the Sqala, the medina, the Central Market and Place Mohammed V are close to one another: as the crow flies, from under one to about 1.5 km between stops. Habous is separate, a few kilometres from the centre: it deserves its own half-day. Distances are as-the-crow-flies guides, calculated from map coordinates; by road it is longer and traffic varies.

Day 1: the mosque, the medina and the centre (summary)

For the hour-by-hour schedule, see Casablanca in one day. The essentials:

Day 2: Habous, culture and the Corniche

Morning: Habous quarter

Take a taxi to the Habous quarter, a few kilometres from the centre. Allow 1.5 to 2.5 hours for the arcades, souks, pastries and the Grand Place. Built between 1918 and 1955, it is best visited in the morning, when you can shop and photograph in peace.

The official Habous route from Visit Casablanca gives you a guiding thread: the Grand Place, the Bennis pastry shop, the Dar El Ala Andalusian music museum, the olive market and the Mahkama du Pacha. The latter is an administrative building: don't count on interior access without checking. Shops have their own hours: check them, especially on a Friday or during holidays. For all the detail, see our guide to the Habous quarter.

If you like food, the private guided street food tour with tastings goes, according to its listing, through the Habous quarter and the Central Market: check the exact programme, duration and conditions.

Lunch

In Habous or in the centre, depending on your mood. For ideas, see our guide on what to eat in Casablanca.

Afternoon: a cultural venue, or a day trip

Two options.

Option A: culture. The Villa des Arts (about 1 km from Place Mohammed V as the crow flies) and the Abderrahman Slaoui Museum are two choices. Check opening days and times and prices with the venues before you plan. If you didn't do the Sacré-Cœur extension on day 1, now is the time: the Arab League Park is close by.

Option B: a day trip to Rabat. If Casablanca is enough for one day, use day 2 for Rabat: the city is about 1 h away by train. See our guide to day trips from Casablanca. Also see the private day trip to Rabat from Casablanca: check what the listing includes and what you pay for yourself.

Late afternoon: Corniche and Ain Diab

Finish by the ocean: promenade, cafés, restaurants, beaches. Sunset time varies with the date: check it if you want to see it over the Atlantic. Have dinner in Ain Diab or head back to the centre depending on your accommodation.

Adapting the itinerary

Your Hassan II tour is at 15:00. Reverse day 1: medina, lunch, centre, mosque at 15:00.

You are in Casablanca on a Friday. There are fewer mosque tours: plan them first.

A museum is closed. Replace it with another stop (Sacré-Cœur, Villa des Arts, Corniche): check opening days before you plan.

It's raining. Keep Hassan II, the Central Market (covered), the Sacré-Cœur and the museums for the rainy hours.

You have little time. Keep Hassan II, the medina, the centre and Habous; drop the Sacré-Cœur and the museums.
